A Cultural and Recreational Center

Laramie is a major cultural and recreational center for the State of Wyoming.  Due to the presence of the University of Wyoming, many events have come to the Laramie area, including concerts from Elton John and the Dave Matthews Band and art shows at the Art Museum/Centennial Complex.  In addition, the city itself offers many activities.  Laramie is home to more than a dozen city parks that feature a variety of amenities, including playgrounds, seasonal wading pools, jogging and biking paths, a skateboard park, and a seasonally stocked fishing pond.  The new Laramie Community Recreation Center offers an indoor leisure pool, 8-lane lap pool, outdoor pool, water slides, lazy river, whirlpool, full-court gymnasium, cardio equipment, circuit weights, indoor playground, meeting rooms, teen area, and dozens of activity programs.  A community ice arena and an 18-hole golf course can be found as well.

In Laramie you can devote your time outside of work by enjoying the wide list of outdoor possibilities. Spring, fall, and summer provide ample opportunities for world class fishing, hiking, and biking which are all within minutes of Laramie. An added benefit of recreation in this area is you can enjoy all these sports in relative solitude and overwhelming natural beauty. The Laramie Mountain Range has an area called Veedauwoo which offers terrific rock climbing and great hiking trails most of the year. During the snowy months it is one of the most popular cross country and sledding areas around. The Snowy's, a mountain range just west of Laramie are very similar in nature to Yellowstone National Park with its lodge pole pines, open vistas and alpine vegetation. It is perfect for picnicking, hiking and biking and just getting in touch with nature.

Winter recreation opportunities abound in and near Laramie. The Snowy Range ski area, a great family area with a variety of terrain is only about 30 minutes from town. Steamboat Springs, Winter Park, Breckenridge and Vail are all within a reasonable drive from Laramie and have some of the best skiing and snow conditions in the world.
